About WasteStart
WasteStart builds ERP software designed specifically for waste and recycling operators. Our platform runs the whole operation in one place, from customers, contracts and job scheduling to weighbridge, stock and billing. Our founders bring decades of experience from the waste technology sector, and we already have customers live in Ireland and the Nordic region as we grow internationally.
The Project Delivery team takes WasteStart into new customers and makes it work for them. We start with the customer's data: importing it from their existing systems tells us a great deal about how the business really runs.
What the import reveals then drives a focused discovery on the gaps and decisions it surfaces. We make sure the configuration is right, present it back to the customer with confidence, then test, train and go live. Afterwards we stay close as their main contact, feeding what we learn back to product and engineering.
The role
We are looking for a sharp, hard-working Delivery Consultant to help take WasteStart into new customers from first conversation to go-live. You will gather and pin down what each customer needs, work out how WasteStart meets it, and do the hands-on work to get them running.
This is not a senior-only role. We care more about how you think and how you work than years on a CV. If you learn fast, ask good questions, follow things through and are comfortable in front of customers, we want to hear from you.
You will spend time on customer sites as well as working with them remotely, so you need to be just as effective across a table in a yard office as on a Teams call.
What you'll do
Discovery and scoping
- Run discovery sessions with customers, on site and remotely, to understand how their operation works today: processes, systems, data and reporting.
- Document requirements clearly, including process flows and the gaps between what the customer needs and what WasteStart does today.
- Support pre-sales by helping assess whether a prospect is a good fit and what delivery would involve.
Configuration and data migration
- Configure WasteStart for each customer so it matches how their existing business runs: materials, pricing and contracts, locations, users, documents and billing settings.
- Analyse customer data, map it to WasteStart and help plan and validate migrations.
- Work out how integrations with third-party systems (such as weighbridge and finance software) need to work for each customer.
Testing, training and go-live
- Test configuration and new features against real customer scenarios, and log clear, reproducible issues for engineering.
- Write walkthroughs and training material, and train customer users.
- Plan and support go-lives, including cut-over checks and early-life support.
After go-live and continuous improvement
- Act as a day-to-day contact for customers on support questions and change requests.
- Feed customer needs and recurring issues back to product and engineering, and help shape solutions.
- Help improve our delivery playbooks, templates and checklists so every rollout is faster and better than the last.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Based within commuting distance of Glasgow, and able to be in our Montrose Street office at least two days a week.
- Experience delivering software into customers, ideally across the full journey from gathering requirements to implementation and go-live.
- Experience working directly with customers, both on site and remotely.
- Confident presenting to customers, from walking a team through their configured system to explaining decisions and trade-offs to directors.
- Rigorous attention to detail, with a track record of checking configuration thoroughly so it is right before it reaches the customer.
- Able to turn conversations and messy information into clear written requirements, process flows and test scenarios.
- Comfortable working with data: spreadsheets, data mapping and spotting what doesn't add up.
- Clear, confident communication with people at every level, from yard and office staff to company directors.
- Willing to travel to customer sites.
Desirable
- Experience in the waste management, recycling or wider logistics sector.
- Experience of data migration.
- Experience configuring or implementing business software such as ERP, CRM or operational platforms.
- Exposure to integrations, APIs or data flow diagrams.
- Experience with work-tracking tools such as Linear or Jira, and with Agile ways of working.
A degree in a relevant subject is welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts.
The kind of person who thrives here
- Sharp. You pick things up quickly, see the detail others miss and ask the question that unlocks the problem.
- Hard-working and reliable. You follow things through to done and don't need chasing.
- Curious about how businesses run. You want to understand why a customer works the way they do before deciding how the software should fit.
- Calm under pressure. Go-lives and customer deadlines don't rattle you.
- A team player. You share what you learn and help make the team's way of working better.
- Comfortable with change. We are a growing business, priorities shift, and you enjoy shaping how things are done rather than following a fixed script.
What we offer
- Salary: £35,000
- 25 days' annual leave plus public holidays.
- Hybrid working: two days a week in our Glasgow city centre office, the rest remote.
- Real ownership and variety: you will work across the whole delivery lifecycle, not one narrow slice of it.
- A direct line into product and engineering, so your customer insight shapes the platform.
- The chance to help build a delivery team as the business grows.
